How to make a Google Places Page
There is so much that goes into designing and optimizing your Google places page recently that when done right you will acquire the rewards for a long, long period of time. If you are on page one today of your local Search and are not optimized the plain truth is you can start slipping down off that prime virtual real estate that Google is now offering you.
Optimizing your Google places page
Is simple when you know precisely what you are doing, there are a few focal steps you can take to increase your online visibility. The first thing you need is to be sure you do is claim your Google places page!
To begin open your browser to Google’s home page and just search for yourself. When you come across your places page select the small blue hyperlink that says Place page. This will take you into the page area itself where your details are. At the top but just under the search box you locate two links, first one says edit the next one will either say Owner Verified with a check mark or it will say Business owner? with a question mark. If it is yours you should verify it before someone else does for you.

If you do not have a Google Places account you will need to set one up, Gmail is the easiest way
That is your first step. After that make sure your business name is as you listed it on your business license, Google is cracking down. Stuffing keywords into the business name section may get you removed.

After that start in the Additional information they ask for. There are a lot of new changes being made by Google as far as how your places page should be designed. With recent changes in January and February 2011 if you do not do things right you may never be seeing yourself in the top 7 box.
Google Places Page Categories
Categories are next for basic set up, just keep these with the ones that Google recommends. Again do not try to stuff extra words in to make it look better. Your Google places page is a great asset to you, if done wrong it could take some fixing to get back to where Google sees it as an asset.
